The Drinks Association is proud to announce the release of the Embrace Difference Council’s 2024 Diversity & Inclusion Report. In this second annual publication, the report encapsulates the concerted efforts and initiatives undertaken by the Embrace Difference Council over the past year to foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Australian drinks industry.
Central to this report is the Drinks Association Scorecard, which leverages data submitted to Australia's Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) and includes additional metrics to assess and measure various initiatives beyond gender. Within the Toolkit section, you will find links to practical resources that can be integrated into your business.
Notable highlights from the 2023/2024 Scorecard include:
- 88% of Drinks Association member companies have a formal policy and/or strategy to support employees experiencing family or domestic violence - an increase of 10% over the past year.
- 94% of member companies now provide secondary leave.
- 37% of managerial positions being held by women, an increase of 4%; however, this improvement was driven by only 50% of member companies.
The comprehensive report also includes stories of drinks industry businesses that are listening to their employees and driving meaningful change. With a strong commitment to fostering a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive liquor industry, these companies are helping to shape a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone.
The 2024 report was expanded to look closely at Parental leave and flexible working arrangements and it’s encouraging to see more organisations removing the primary and secondary carer definitions from their policies. Links for members to obtain more information from external sources was also included.
