On the back of exponential domestic and international demand for premium ethanol, construction of the latest world-class ethanol distillery is being completed at Manildra Group’s Shoalhaven Starches site, where high-quality ethanol (alcohol) is bound for food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and personal care industries.

Made in Italy, the 53-metre-high distillery, will increase Manildra Group’s ethanol production capabilities to meet the company’s growth and to facilitate further opportunities for product development and innovation.

With foundations completed in 2021, the new five-column distillery is nearing completion with an impressive 330 tonnes of structural steel and five kilometres of stainless-steel pipework, and a projection that the distillery will be fully operational by later this year.

Since 1992, Manildra Group has been recognised as Australian pioneers in ethanol production, and is proud to continue its legacy of impressive innovation and high-quality standards, producing a truly neutral and odourless product range at our new ethanol distillery.

“We’re delighted to celebrate another significant milestone, which builds on our current exceptional reputation to produce the highest-quality grain neutral spirits with extraordinary care and commitment,” said Manildra Group Head of Ethanol, Debbie Forster.

Market demand for Manildra Group’s range of quality Australian alcohol products is backed by its global reputation for best-practice processes, reinvestment in state-of-the-art technology, and world-leading product innovation.

"Once operational, this additional distillery will produce the very purest Australian-grown and made grain neutral spirits range from premium 100 per cent Australian, GMO-free wheat as feedstock for food to industrial industries.

“This impressive investment supports our local economy, whilst delighting local and international customers by producing ethanol that delivers on purity, quality and exceptional taste – the most stringent in the industry,” Ms Forster said.

As a state-of-the-art food production plant, Manildra's flagship Shoalhaven Starches manufacturing facility is certified HACCP and SQF Level Three and was the first plant in the world to receive the internationally recognised sustainability certification from the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB).

Demonstrating the highest commitment to sustainability, the RSB certification requires Manildra Group’s alcohol production to be produced in an environmentally and socially responsible way, whilst reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

“We are exceptionally proud to set the benchmark for truly sustainable alcohol production,” said Ms Forster.

From local to international customers, Manildra Group’s premium alcohol will be used in a range of products including cosmetic and beauty, cleaning and industrial, pharmaceutical, fuel and beverage products.
