Catherine McGregor is the keynote speaker for International Women's Day 2022

Writer, commentator and media presenter, Catherine McGregor, will be the keynote speaker for the Drinks Association’s 2022 International Women’s Day event on Tuesday, 8 March.

Ms McGregor has an extraordinary story to share, from her life in politics, her professional life as a journalist, social and political commentator, a soldier in the Australian Army to her gender transition to living life as a woman all the while still working in the Army.

Catherine McGregor is a graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon who deployed on operations on multiple occasions. On Australia Day 2012 she was awarded the Order of Australia in the Military Division for sustained exceptional service to the Australian Army.

Ms McGregor has covered politics, military affairs and cricket for every major media outlet in Australia. In 2021 she hosted her own television program The McGregor Angle and she is a published author, including An Indian Summer of Cricket, about the sport she has loved throughout her life.

She was a speechwriter for former Labor Party leader, Kim Beazley and former New South Wales Premier Bob Carr. As a speechwriter to the Chief of Army from 2001-2014, she also wrote the famous script for Lieutenant General David Morrison who in his role as Chief of Army in 2013 told Army personnel that if they weren't willing to respect, and work with, women in the Army they should "get out".

Today she is an advocate for veterans' affairs.

Please join us next International Women’s Day to hear her extraordinary life story.
