Shelly Horton to host Australian Drinks Awards

The Drinks Association is excited to welcome back Shelly Horton who will once again host this year’s Australian Drinks Awards on Thursday, 5 August at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney. Now in their ninth year, the Australian Drinks Awards have grown to become the premier event for honouring achievement and innovation in Australian liquor.

The Awards will be grouped into three categories: Contribution to Industry Awards, Brand Awards and Supplier Awards.

The coveted Contribution to Industry Awards are now open for submissions from Drinks Association members and the entry process has been revised this year, making it easier than ever for members to be a part of them.

The Gender Equity Award has evolved to become the Most Improved Gender Equity Award. Using data from the Workplace Gender Equity Agency and industry Diversity and Inclusion Scorecard, the award is intended to recognise the company that has made the most significant change in gender diversity (as measured by overall and senior leader workplace composition), and implemented the most policies.

From these results, the finalists are then invited to provide evidence as to how these improvements were achieved within the business. An independent panel will convene to review data points and submissions in order to determine the winner.

The Inclusive & Diverse Workplace Award and Corporate Social Responsibility Award remain similar to previous years.

To put forward a submission for any of the Contribution to Industry Awards, email awards@drinks.asn.au for submission criteria and documentation. The closing date for submissions is 18 June 2021.

Thirty-four awards in all will be handed out on the evening. The Supplier Awards will be determined by the results of the industry wide Engagement Program, facilitated by the Advantage Group, and entries for the Brand Awards will see the top 200 drinks brands entered into the Fan Favourite and Gaining in Popularity Brand categories. For the first time this year, there will be an award for non-alcohol category in Fan Favourite. Thrive Research have once again been enlisted to undertake the research to determine the winners of these awards via a survey of 4000 consumers.
