Embrace Difference Council

The Drinks Association's Embrace Difference Council is dedicated to educating, inspiring, and supporting members companies in fostering inclusive practices. 

Diversity and inclusion are central to a thriving drinks industry, enhancing employee loyalty, driving innovation, and improving decision-making.

The Council’s mission is to position the drinks industry as a career destination of choice by raising awareness, challenging perceptions, and implementing strategies to attract, develop, and retain diverse talent.

Led by Sandra Gibbs from Asahi, the Council operates through four dedicated workstreams, each focused on raising awareness, promoting advocacy, and building sustainable practices that nurture diverse talent across the industry.

Workstreams

The Embrace Difference Council’s four workstreams each play a crucial role in driving positive change. Together, they help us to better understand the needs of our members and the broader industry, providing vital data, initiatives, and resources to support progress.

INSIGHTS WORKSTREAM

Promoting diversity and inclusion through data collection, advocacy, storytelling, the Respect Charter development, and staying informed about emerging themes.

Advancing gender equity by establishing a Gender Framework to ensure equitable workplace policies, supporting the Inclusive Leadership Program, and celebrating International Women's Day.

Diversity & Inclusion Report

At the Drinks Association, we’re committed to building a stronger, fairer, more progressive industry. The Embrace Difference Council’s Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Report is a comprehensive guide to fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, and equity within the Australian drinks industry.

The D&I Report combines the annual Diversity & Inclusion Scorecard with our Industry Toolkit and provides member companies with a single streamlined resource packed with actionable insights and best practices to drive positive organisational change, regardless of the size of your organisation.

Each year, the Embrace Difference Council diligently works to enhance support for our members and increase engagement with our available resources. Within the report, you will find the Drinks Association Scorecard that leverages data submitted to Australia's Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) and includes additional metrics to assess and measure various initiatives beyond gender.
